This Is My Confession

Don't crucify me, please!

Are you ready for this? It's major. I mean, we're talking "US Weekly" front cover, major!

I....um, I....well you see, I don't like Fall!! There, I said it!

I believe my dad & I are the only people (oh, I forgot my sister-in-law's mom) who don't like Fall. I don't like the changing leaves, I don't like the smell of burning leaves, I don't like the drabness in the air. Is there something wrong with me? Most people love fall. They can't wait to sip their cider & visit the pumpkin patch & wrestle around in those leaves. I'd rather just skip it & go to winter. It's not that I love winter, I just don't know. Maybe as I get older, I will learn to like it. However, my dad is 55 & is SOOO not there.

In fact, here is a general conversation we have at least once a week regarding fall. Well, today this is the call he made to me. Please note, we are obviously being sarcastic & making fun of ourselves. My dad is a blast.

DAD: Shannon? This is your dad. I'm on my way to tan & I'm going past the park & I thought of you & had to call. The leaves are beautiful. I can guarantee that most of the trees are Soft Maple's...my favorite.

ME: Dad! You know I'm jealous. I actually just saw a few leaves fall softly to the ground in front of the house. Maybe you will see the kids & I on your way home. I think I'll take them to the wooded area around there & bring notebooks & identify the leaves we find.

DAD: That sounds so fun! Wish I could join you. We should rake the leaves into a big pile & jump in them.

ME: Will you wear your new sweater?

DAD: Yes. Actually I'm having a lady at work embroider me a sweater with leaves on it. I'm sitting here in front of the tanning place. When I look to the left, I see the beautiful horizon & the beautiful foliage. I just opened the door to my car & felt the crisp breeze on my legs (he's still wearing shorts).

ME: Well, make sure you take a deep breathe in of that fall air, for me.
