15 Years Later...

I have to tell this funny story. 15 years ago (during the summer) we were in Daytona Beach with my dad for summer vacation. I was eighteen years old at the time...had just turned 18. I was itchin' to get a tattoo. What's a dad to do but take his baby daughter to get a tattoo that she had to have!? A very very tiny tattoo!

While we were in this tattoo parlor...17 HOURS FROM WHERE WE LIVE...my dad sees a guy that he knew from our town. This guy happened to work at Chrysler with my mom. Small world, huh? Ol' mom's Chrysler buddies were notorious for checking up on us. We could never have parties at mom's house because guaranteed, someone would see a vehicle at our house that didn't belong & tell my mom. I mean, now that I'm older, I realize that she worried.

Back to my story. We got home from Florida & my mom came to pick me up from my dad's house. I got in to the truck & she said, "Did you get a tattoo?" My jaw hit the floor. How in the he&$ did she know I got a tattoo!? I didn't tell her before because I knew she probably wouldn't approve. She proceeded to tell me that a guy she worked with, saw my dad & I at the tattoo parlor. Are you kidding me? Well, I remember that disagreement with my mom very well.

Today, the kids & I were outside playing. My neighbor across the street came over. She told me that she just got married 2 weeks ago & that the guy use to work with my mom. He came over & she said, "This is Beverly's daughter." The first thing he said to me was, "Did you get a tattoo in Daytona Beach?" I said, "Oh my gosh! It was you! You're the guy who told my mom! I got in so much trouble for that!" We just laughed & he said, "I had no idea you would get in trouble. I was just talking to your mom at work & said, yea, I saw your daughter & Jack at the tattoo parlor in Florida."

I couldn't wait to tell my mom. She called me tonight & I said, "I met someone tonight that knows you. He was with the lady across the street." She said, "They just got married a couple of weeks ago." I said, "Yes, do you know who he is." She kind of got quiet & said, "Yea." I then told her the story & we just laughed & laughed. She said, "I wasn't going to say anything about him being the guy who told me about your tattoo."

It's pretty cool to be able to look back at this and laugh with my mom. And she's probably thinking, "Just you wait Shannon." I turned out to be okay, I think.

I think you're alright, LOL. That's hilarious. You never know who you're gonna run into anywhere you go, so make sure you behave! I've had that happen a few times, too, even out of state.

You think I'm alright because you're crazy too! Hee, hee. Nah, I think we're just some fun lovin' gals. It is wild that it was so far from where we live.

And get this, I'm going to Arizona with my dad in June. Just the two of us. I may come back with a sleeve! Get ready, mom! :)
