The kids are in the phase where they point at people and describe to me or their siblings on what makes this person funny, weird, etc. I don't like this phase. I never know what is going to come out of their mouths & that scares the bajesus out of me.
Last night, Isabel seemed to be on a roll. I took her & Jasper to Target with me while Jonah stayed back at Ashley's house.
We stopped to get our popcorn first. Because popcorn seems to occupy them for a quick minute. I'm pretty sure the guy behind the counter was gay. I'm so okay with that. I have nothing against gay people & I have friends who are gay. He happened to have a hair net on. It wasn't "netty" though, so it looked to me like a shower cap you get from hotels. We got up to the counter & Isabel points directly at him & laughs..."Look at him! He's so funny!" At first I thought, "Oh crap, does she mean because he is talking feminine?" And then I thought, "No, she wouldn't notice that." She thought he was funny because of the cap. She pointed again & said, "Look at his hair! He's so funny!"
Not long after, we started strolling the dollar bins. Two men walked thru the doors & they had rather large beards. Isabel points & says loudly, "Look at them mama! Look! They got beards like daddy's!"
Next up, the jewelry department. A man with spiked hair was looking at some jewelry. Isabel points directly at him & says, "Look mama! He has metal hair!" FYI: Metal hair is hair that is faux hawked, sticking up everywhere, etc. In the morning, I will ask the boys if they want "metal" hair or not. Some days they will just look at me & say, "I don't want metal hair today." So, I pushed the cart to where no one was. I looked at them both & said, "You do not point at people. Pointing is not nice." I still don't think they get it.
After we checked out, I was pushing them out the door. In walked a man & I knew exactly what Isabel was going to say. I was right! She pointed & said, "Look mama! It's Bob Marley! It's Bob Marley!" I have to say, the guy did look a lot like Bob. His hat was identical to what Mr. Marley use to wear. I said to the man, "My kids think you're Bob Marley." He laughed.
This was just in one night. I'm frightened to think of what the next few years will bring.
