My mama didn't raise no meth head

Tonight, I got to go watch Nate's band play & I took pictures for them. It has been a few years since I've seen them live. Before I had the kids, I was the number one groupie. I went to all the shows, sold merchandise & dealt with some of the nut jobs that frequent their shows. But the number one thing that gets me is when people bring their young children to these shows. Nate plays in a Metal band. It is pretty heavy & very loud. It just isn't a place for children. My kids listen to a wide range of music, from church songs to Janis Joplin. And I want them to grow up that way. To love music in general. But for the love of Pete, I wouldn't take them to see Nate's band play until they are much older.

So tonight, the kid looked like he was 2. It was about 9:30 pm & there he was, on his daddy's shoulders...next to a speaker...with NO ear plugs in or anything to cover his ears. Nice. I stood by the speakers for most of their set, taking pictures. I have been out of the venue for over 2 hours & my ears are still ringing & I can't fully hear. Now imagine that poor baby's ears. Crazy, isn't' it?

Aside from the crack pipe's who brought their baby, I had a great time. I didn't get to stay long, but it was nice to actually see them play again. And it's pretty cool to see their fans chanting their name & getting so excited. As I was leaving Nate to drive back home, a girl who was obviously out of it, came up & introduced herself. Nate gave her a fake name & for the life of me I can't remember it. I introduced myself as, "Janet". On my way home, Nate sent me a message that said, "This is why you don't do meth, kids."
