As I just put a load of laundry in, I was thinking, "man, I wish my dad still lived here because we wouldn't have laundry piled up."
You see, my dad was "asked to change his residence" (as he puts it) back in, oh...2005, I think. Of course it was the best thing that could have happened to him. In the town we live in, most of my family lives pretty darn close. Dad actually lived right around the corner from us. We told him he could stay here. Granted, this was BT (before triplets), otherwise I'm not so sure we would have stayed!
My dad is a clean man...not that I'm a filthy pig, but his laundry is always done & it doesn't look like anyone lives in his house. While he was residing here, I became pregnant with the trio. Dad took care of most everything. My laundry was done & he made sure to keep Nate & I fed...very well! We all gained weight while he lived here. He'd make a late night run to Marsh & get us junk food. Geez...now that I'm walking down memory lane, I have thought of a few stories. If you know my dad, you know he is hilarious...a huge cut-up, life of the party, doesn't act his age, etc.
He & I were watching the Super Bowl. Nate was running the sweeper. Nate isn't much of a sports guy, he's very much into music & playing his guitar. Dad looked at me & said, "I think Nate is the 1% of the male population who is vacuuming during the Super Bowl." I don't remember who was playing that year, but I jumped up off the couch to scream & I got in trouble :-). I was a few months along with trio & it scared Nate.
Okay, 2nd story: We have a half bath off the kitchen. Nate & I were sitting in the kitchen when dad when into that bathroom. We heard what sounded like a "normal" pee. Then we heard, "psssss (this is my pee sound), pss, ps, pssssssss....pause.................pssssssssss, ps, psss, pss, & so on." I looked at Nate & said, "Is that normal?" He said, "Shan, that isn't normal, your dad needs to get his prostate checked out." A few minutes later dad came out. Nate & I were dead quiet & dad looked at us & then busted laughing. He had been pouring a cup of water into the toilet to make it sound that way. It was soo funny!
So I guess the purpose of this post is to let you know that I miss having someone do things for me. I can't keep up! Wish I had enough money to hire dad as my housekeeper.

Just FYI, Pittsburgh beat Seattle in the Super Bowl the year we were both pregnant with triplets. I live in the Pittsburgh area and my husband is a big sports fan. It was kind of a memorable day in our house. Funny, my biggest memory of the day is eating shrimp. I was having a lot of nausea and was SO excited that the shrimp tasted good and stayed down.
I think I would like to hire your father to come to my house too. I'm not too bad with doing the laundry but I'm really bad about folding it. Thank goodness my parents came to visit today. Mom folded all my piled up laundry!
