Nate & I thought we'd go to eat & to Costco today. Well, turns out Costco was closed & we live an hour from it. So, we decided to drive 1/2 hour to go eat & go to Target. We went to Red Lobster & as soon as we sat down, Jonah flipped out. Usually the kids are good in public places. Not today. We finally got settled & ordered right away. Nate & I panic when the kids are like that. We don't want to be "That Family."
We got our food & scarfed it down because the animals were starting to act up. We left & went to Target. On the way in, Jasper had to be carried by Nate & Jonah had to be carried by me. As soon as we entered, Jonah threw himself down in the doorway. We should have known not to take them in. We didn't. We went in & got 2 carts. Nate put Iz in the back of one cart with Jasper at the top. They were fine. I tried to put Jonah in a cart & let me push him. Nope...wasn't happening. He threw fit after fit. So needless to say, we got about 10 feet from the door & decided to leave. I had 3 younger girls looking at me with the dirtiest looks. Yea, wait till you have screaming toddlers, you little punks!
Nate decided to take some country roads home because the kids fell asleep & so did I. We got home & it has been fit after fit ever since. I'm sitting in the kitchen while Nate is with them in the other room. They seem to act worse when I'm around. I'm so ready for bedtime.

I LOVE your blog ~ you've done an incredible job!! Don't stress when the kids have tantrums in public places, I adopted the theory it won't be the first fit a child threw at a given store and it won't be the last fit a child throws in the store ~ so, in my own mind, it gave me permission to get through the tantrum and realize 99% of the people there have been in my shoes and they understand...for the other 1% there day is comming:)
Awww, so sorry about your experience today. And, don't worry about the little pop tarts and their dirty looks...one day their kids will throw a fit in the middle of a store...and their perky little bbs won't be so perky anymore either! Not that I wish that on them...much.
Sorry you had such a rough trip! I am not looking forward to those days! Hopefully next time (if there is a next time!) will be better!
Thanks, Teresa! You are so right...that other 1% better be looking out!
Nicole...that is too funny! I love it.
Hope I didn't scare you, Megan. For the most part, mine do act okay when we are in public. Now at home, that's another story! :)
Before I had kids, I never thought I would be "that family" either, and I am guilty of giving other people looks. But, that was BEFORE the trio! Now, when we get out, I am so freakin' happy to be out of the house, I don't care what others think!
I really enjoy your blog. BTW- your kids are adorable!
Megan
Ahhh, thanks Megan. You're a sweetie. And I love your comment about how you don't care now...you just wanna get out of the house. Amen, sista! :)
I hope that Jonah is feeling ok, it sounds like it was a rough day.
Don't worry about the strangers. If they think he is having a tantrum because you are a bad mom, they obviously have not spent much time around kids. I almost find it comical when Charlie does it now....sorry Charlie, I've seen it all before.
You will love this story in years to come!! You are doing an awesome job!
